Gallery talk on Palestine Experience by Dan Onorato
Modesto Junior College Art Gallery announces the exhibition of Flammable, a selection of documentary photos of Palestine and Iraq by Babak Salari.
Based in Montreal, Canada and educated at Concordia University as well as Dowson College, Salari’s commitment to the subjects of marginality and otherness has taken him around the world to places like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jordan, Iraq, Kurdistan, Palestine, Israel, Mexico and Cuba. Unsensational in their depiction, Salari’s photographs are refreshing contrast to the ever-present hype that dominates our visual vocabulary while they provide us with fragments of daily lives, lived by ordinary citizens who are caught in the struggles and strides for survival under occupation.
Salari’s work has been exhibited and published throughout Canada, USA, Europe and Mexico.
